This is the UFC Vegas 96 live blog for Jared Cannonier vs. Caio Borralho, the middleweight main event on Saturday at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Cannonier is MMA Fighting’s No. 7 ranked middleweight in the world. A one-time UFC title challenger, Cannonier enters Saturday night in dire need of a win to keep his championship hopes alive after succumbing to a fourth-round knockout loss to Nassourdine Imavov in June. Cannonier has long been a contender at 185 pounds, picking up wins over the likes of Marvin Vettori, Sean Strickland, Anderson Silva, and Derek Brunson, but at age 40, the time is now if “Tha Killa Gorilla” is going to earn his second shot at the UFC belt.

Borralho sits on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. Unranked in MMA Fighting’s middleweight rankings, the Fighting Nerds representative enters UFC Vegas 96 on the precipice of a breakout moment after racking up a perfect 6-0 start to his octagon career. Borralho opened the eyes of many within the division in May when he promised a knockout of Paul Craig and delivered in thunderous fashion. Now the 31-year-old Brazilian looks to stamp his name right in the thick of the title picture.
