Curmel Tramayne Moton vs. Victor Vazquez

Round 1: Moton comes out aggressive and he wobbles Vazquez with a stiff left hand to start the fight. Moton follows that up with a brutal right that puts Vazquez down on the canvas in a heap! Vazquez attempts to get back to his feet but the referee waves it off to stop the fight in the first round.

Victor Ortiz vs. Damian Coria

Round 1: The exhibition match is really playing out that way early with Ortiz and Coria basically pawing at each other without putting any power behind their punches. Very little action between the fighters with two-minute rounds. Coria was sort of busier but nothing much happened.

Round 2: Ortiz opens with a good body shot followed by a stiff right jab. Perhaps Ortiz has woken up a bit after a slow start. Coria trying to stick a couple of jabs in Ortiz’s face but he’s looking a little like a deer in the headlights now. Ortiz slows down but still landing the better punches

Round 3: Ortiz staying in pursuit against his smaller opponent. This is barely a sparring match right now. The action picked up a bit in round 2 but the fighters are back to just barely touching with punches now.

Round 4: Coria showing fast hands to start the fourth with Ortiz tying him up to slow things down again. Coria sticking a jab out there and blocking the few punches coming back at him from Ortiz. Ortiz snaps off a decent left hook but he’s still throwing with maybe 50 percent power. Maybe. Coria staying busier so there’s that at least.

Round 5: Coria continuing to stay busy throwing two or three punches to every one coming back at him from Ortiz. At 37, Ortiz is definitely showing his age in there, especially with a tremendous amount of inactivity in recent years. Ortiz just doesn’t look interested in fighting right now.

Round 6: Ortiz trying to pick up his pace a bit as he fights tonight and then again next week. Ortiz with a nice left-right combination, although he’s still barely putting any power behind his punches. Coria happy to fight in the phone booth with Ortiz as he throws a couple of uppercuts as the action continues to diminish with each passing second.

Round 7: Ortiz and Coria start trading some shots but again no mustard behind anything. Coria connects with a decent left hand as he dives in towards Ortiz. Coria bouncing around and tagging Ortiz with a couple of slick combinations. Ortiz seems resigned to just taking the center of the ring and not moving as much as possible.

Round 8: Ortiz opens with a right hand with Coria coming back with a few more punches in succession as his speed continues to pay off. Ortiz finally starts moving forward a bit more but he can’t quite keep up with Coria’s speed with his footwork. Ortiz does land a solid straight right down the middle.

Alan David Picasso vs. Azat Hovhannisyan

Round 1: Picasso wasting no time getting busy, throwing slick fast combinations to get the action started. Hovhannisyan looking to go to the body when he’s able to close the distance. Picasso clearly the faster fighter as he snaps off a good left hook that catches Hovhannisyan on the chin. Picasso with another quick three-punch combination and Hovhannisyan firing back with a big left hook of his own but he comes up short. PIcasso is very aggressive as he goes after Hovhannisyan, who has been a slow starter at times.

Round 2: Hovhannisyan getting busier at the start of round 2 but Picasso catches him with a nasty uppercut in return. That puts Hovhannisyan on the ropes as Picasso starts launching punches in succession. Hovhannisyan finally escapes and resets in the center. He digs to the body with a couple of shots and Picasso fires back with some huge left hands. Picasso with a stiff right hand with Hovhannisyan staying focused on his body work.

Round 3: Hovhannisyan comes after Picasso with a huge barrage of shots as he backs the local favorite into the corner. It looks like Hovhannisyan has a burst of energy but many of his biggest punches don’t land as Picasso finally breaks free to circle away. Picasso with a great left to the body and then back up top to the head. Picasso with a slick step back counter uppercut that cracks Hovhannisyan. The punches coming back from Hovhannisyan are a little more wild with Picasso connecting with the better shots whenever the fighters exchange.

Round 4: Picasso opens with a quick double jab followed by a hard uppercut to the body and then back up top to the head. Hovhannisyan gets a warning from the referee for repeated low blows. On the restart, Picasso digs to the body again and he’s still looking for that uppercut that Hovhannisyan is struggling to avoid. Hovhannisyan connects with a nice counter left of his own but he’s just not matching Picasso’s activity right now. Picasso with a three punch combination that bounces Hovhannisyan around like a pinball.

Round 5: Picasso really picks up the pace when Hovhannisyan switches southpaw and that allows him to land several stinging shots in a row. Hovhannisyan with another low blow and the referee deducts a point for the repeated fouls. Hovhannisyan with a nice check left hook while Picasso keeps looking for that same double left hand with one to the body and one to the head. Hovhannisyan with another nice combination with Picasso firing back just before the bell sounds.

Round 6: Picasso with a great overhand right that clubs Hovhannisyan. Picasso with another huge left to the body and Hovhannisyan comes back at him with a rapid-fire combinations. Hovhannisyan keeps swinging big but he’s not connecting with many of his biggest punches. Picasso happy to dig away at him with that same left hand that keeps giving Hovhannisyan problems. Hovhannisyan goes wild with a barrage at the end of the round including a big left hand that snaps Picasso’s head back.

Round 7: Hovhannisyan continues to throw with big power while Picasso sticks to a precision game plan, picking and choosing his punches. Picasso showing some confidence here with that same left hand that keeps catching Hovhannisyan off balance. Picasso with another nice combination. He digs to the body and then to the head again as Picasso really starts to pick up his pace

Round 8: Picasso tags Hovhannisyan with a couple of good punches as he backs the fight up to the ropes. Picasso really looking to dish out some damage here but Hovhannisyan will not go away. Picasso keeps ripping away with those left hooks in what has definitely become his favorite punch in this fight. Hovhannisyan just marches forward with his head down, hands held up high as he continues winging shots but Picasso is landing with much more regularity now. Picasso just can’t keep his distance because Hovhannisyan always manages to get inside and work from the clinch to bring the fight into his world.

Round 9: Picasso establishing a nice jab in the ninth but Hovhannisyan is taunting him a little bit, trying to force him into a brawl. Picasso isn’t biting as he continues to dig to the body with the left and then going back up top to the head. Hovhannisyan unloads a huge left hook followed by another! Picasso firing back but Hovhannisyan is hitting him with some powerful shots.

Round 10: Picasso staying very active here and Hovhannisyan slowing down a bit but he’s still swinging heavy leather. Picasso isn’t putting as much pop behind his punches but he’s landing three or four for every one that Hovhannisyan manages in return. Picasso with a nice lead jab that snaps Hovhannisyan’s head back.

Round 11: Picasso opens with that same left hand that’s been giving Hovhannisyan problems all night long. Picasso’s biggest mistake is engaging with Hovhannisyan from in close, which gives his opponent a chance to land some punches of his own. On the outside, Picasso clearly the faster, more accurate fighter. Hovhannisyan with a hard shot to the body. Picasso with a quick left hook and Hovhannisyan has massive swelling on both of his eyes now.

Round 12: Picasso knows he’s winning thanks to open scoring, which shifts Hovhannisyan into desperation mode. Hovhannisyan still trying to close the distance and he’s throwing right hands in succession but he gets a warning after landing a few to the back of the head. Hovhannisyan with a stiff right hand with Picasso in retreat. Picasso seems to be protecting his win, preferring defense over offense in the final round. Hovhannisyan still coming after him, he just doesn’t have the kind of energy needed to do the necessary damage for a knockout. Hovhannisyan keeps throwing and Picasso just reacting as he waits for time to expire.
