Francis Ngannou makes his long-awaited PFL debut alongside Bellator featherweight champion Cris Cyborg on Oct. 19 at the next PFL superfight pay-per-view.
Ngannou is set to face 2023 PFL heavyweight season champion Renan Ferreira, who officially landed the matchup after knocking out Ryan Bader back in February.
The fight serves as Ngannou’s return to MMA after last competing in the UFC in January 2022 with a unanimous decision over Ciryl Gane to defend the UFC heavyweight title. Following that fight, Ngannou entered free agency and eventually signed with PFL, but also took a pair of marquee boxing matches against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
Overall, Ngannou has won six MMA bout in a row, including knockouts of former UFC heavyweight champions Stipe Miocic and Cain Velasquez during that run.
As for Ferreira, the 34-year-old Brazilian hunts for the biggest win of his career, by far, after rattling off four straight PFL wins. Overall, Ferreira has scored 11 knockouts along with one submission in his 13 career victories. He now prepares to face the former UFC champ, who was the No. 1 ranked heavyweight in the sport prior to Ngannou’s long hiatus from MMA.
In the co-main event, Cyborg finally returns to action against 2023 PFL featherweight champion Larissa Pacheco, who rides a 10-fight unbeaten streak including a win over current UFC contender Kayla Harrison.
Much like Ngannou, Cyborg crossed over to boxing in recent times, picking up a pair of in-ring wins in 2024. Cyborg’s most recent MMA bout came in October 2023, when she defeated former UFC title challenger Cat Zingano by first-round knockout.
Widely considered one of the greatest women fighters in MMA history, Cyborg looks to add another huge win to her résumé when she faces Pacheco in October.
Ngannou vs. Ferreira and Cyborg vs. Pacheco headline the PFL pay-per-view superfight event at a location still to be determined. The price for the card has yet to be revealed.
More fights are expected to be added to the event in the coming weeks.
