CJI video: Craig Jones taps out Gabi Garcia with rear-naked choke

Craig Jones was victorious in the highly anticipated inter-gender grappling match with jiu-jitsu legend Gabi Garcia at Saturday’s Craig Jones Invitational at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Jones, a decorated grappler with two ADCC silver medals and recent grappling wins over MMA talents Rafael Lovato Jr., Rinat Fakhretdinov, and Gerald Meerschaert on his résumé, appeared to have fun before and during his match with the four-time ADCC champion.

Garcia tried to take Jones’ back early with no success, and the Australian star reversed position, attacking with a triangle choke, straight foot locks, and armbar attempts in the first round.

The second round began and Jones attacked with a Twister, which Garcia gutted through before Jones’ arm slipped away. Jones then went for a heel hook and Garcia responded with a thumbs up to show the referee she was fine. Jones took her back and worked for the rear-naked choke once, but the tap only came on his second attempt moments later.
