The nightlife in Ayutthaya makes for a very tame night out. However, it's definitely worth taking a trip to the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1991. Take pleasure in the magnificence of the architecture in the moonlight - the lighting effects make spectacular photographs. [more]

Bars in Ayutthaya consist mostly of those attached to specific hotels, and even those aren't open very late in the evening. The main traveller area lies in Soi Torgorsor between Naresuan Road and Pamaphrao Road. This lies west of the Chao Phrom Markets. This area contains a number of bars for you to check out that open slightly later than most of the other places in Ayutthaya. Some bars even contain projection screens perfect for watching the latest sports game.

The Ayothaya Hotel has two bars - a pool bar for relaxing by the water with snacks and drinks and a lobby bar with music, drinks and snacks. The pool bar only remains open until 8:00 pm, but the lobby bar retains a more lax attitude remaining open until midnight.

The Mirage Pub makes up part of the U-Thong Inn. It has a seating capacity of 100, and opens until 1:00 am in the morning. Entertainment, snacks, and a lively atmosphere all create this evening experience. If you love to sing, then hire out one of the five private karaoke rooms available - sing along with your favourite beverage or snack. Also open from 6:00 pm until 1:00 am. The U-Thong Inn also contains the Lobby Lounge, a relaxed area with live music and open until 11:00 pm.

Another option at night would be to take a night tour. UP Inn runs one such tour, which runs from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm and travels from Wat Chaiwatthanram to Wat Phra Si Sanphet, Wat Phra Ram, Wat Mahathat and ending up at Wat Ratchaburana. All the wats will light up with lovely spotlights directly on them. As the wats close at 6:30 pm, you can't actually enter them, but the lighting in the evening makes for some pretty photographic opportunities. The tour rounds off with a visit to a night market, and it all comes at a very reasonable price.
